I enjoyed the way the book introduced the reader to the fiction of the universe being presented. It is so aggressively hostile to human life that the settlers on that planet are essentially supermen — they spend so much time and energy protecting themselves from all the predators on their planet all of the hary being, essentially, every living thing on the planet that when they are off-world they are the most capable, deadliest fighting machines in the universe.


I love old school science fiction.

The first book is a fantastic and fantastically silly sci-fi adventure. I don’t think you want to. Harrison makes his point in two ways. Well-known to fantasy and science fiction enthusiasts, this tale portrays exciting adventures filled with the elements of classic characters and plot twists.

I’ll report back in when I finally get to rereading it. He knows that though the grubbers would keep their word, the first thing they would get from civilization would be weapons with which to make war on the city.
